Adoption Process & Return Policy
Adoption Process:
1. Fill out an adoption questionnaire and have a conversation with rescue personnel.
The application is not for a specific cat but for any cat at the rescue. There is a spot to put your cat preference if you know who you would like to adopt, this will put you in line for that cat, but you can switch prior to putting down a holding deposit. The primary owner must fill out the adoption questionnaire and must be over 18 years of age. Cats cannot be adopted as gifts or surprises. Applications are valid and kept on file for 30 days. It takes approximately 20 minutes to fill out an application and have a brief conversation. Our goal is to match you with your perfect kitty. We like to get to know you a little better and find out what you are looking for in a pet and your pet's routine during the conversation.
Our mission is to place cats in forever homes. It can be difficult for a kitty to make the transition to a new home only to be brought back to the rescue, so we encourage you to consider your choice carefully before making a final decision.
2. Find your perfect friend
Each adoption starts with an approved application. If a cat is not ready to go home you may let us know you are interested in the cat and place a 30% non-refundable deposit to hold them until they are ready.
Cats are not available for adoption until they have been spayed/neutered and are deemed healthy. We always have an estimated date for spays and neuters but it is always dependent on the weight and age of the cat. They must be 2.2 pounds, healthy, and 8 weeks old at minimum to be fixed so the ready date may change. Once the cat is ready to leave, we offer the first chance to meet with the cat. At that time, you can make a final decision to adopt that cat, or decide on a different one who is also ready to go if there are any available.
We ask that every member of the household visit with the cat prior to adoption. If you have a dog(s) we will have you to bring them to introduce them to the cat you are looking to adopt to assure they get along before you bring your new pet home. Once you've made your decision we can complete the adoption.
Please note that in some cases we receive an animal with special needs. When necessary for the health and well-being of that animal we will evaluate all adoption applications and select the one that we feel best fits the needs of that animal.
3. Bringing your new friend home:
There is an adoption donation for each cat, which covers all tests, vaccinations and the care that the animal has received during their stay here. Each cat is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped, which is registered in a national database. All applicable adoption processing donations must be paid prior to adopting a pet at Little Paws. The adoption cost is a donation that is non-refundable.
Return Policy:
We require animals be brought back to Little Paws if things are not working out; however, your adoption donation will not be refunded. This is to cover the original costs of care prior to adoption, and cover care upon surrender including: reboarding, redoing quarantine, and any other expenses that can come with the intake of an animal.
